As with every year, Indian festival Diwali started off on November 9, 2015, and will continue all the way until November 11.

Also known to the world as the festival of lights, Diwali is celebrated every year as the victory of good over evil.

People have already started sharing Diwali greetings, and there are many personal bashes and cultural events happening all over the country.

The main festive day of Diwali is on November 11, 2015, when people in India will decorate their houses with lamps and lights and adorning new clothes.

This is also the day when people worship Goddess Lakshmi- who is the goddess of the wealth and happiness.

In West Bengal and parts of North East including Assam, Goddess Kali is worshipped, and this year, the celebrations is on November 10, 2015.

Diwali celebrations have also started in Bollywood tinsel town with personal bashes happening every other day. This time, many celebs have requested for a noise-free Diwali to avoid trauma and injuries to animals and birds.

Diwali is among the few festivals that are celebrated in most parts of India with equal passion and love. People buy Diwali cards and gifts for each other while sweets are also sent to neighbors and friends.

The festival starts with Dhanteras, when people buy gold and silver for their house and the final day will be celebrated with Bhai Dooz, which is a festival when sisters show their love for brothers. The festival is common in West Bengal and parts of Assam.
