Niantic recently released a new patch for the game, which adds some eye-catching new outfits.
To celebrate the upcoming launch of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, new avatar outfit items from the Alola region are now available in Pokemon Go.
There has been more and more collaboration between the Pokemon Company and Niantic when it comes to events, this being the latest.
Trainers can now dress their Pokemon Go avatars in the colorful tropical outfits worn by the main male and female characters in the new Ultra title, although that’s about it.
There are no bonuses attached to the items, meaning that this is not a fully fledged celebration.
Instead, fans are expecting an announcement very soon on the launch of the official Pokemon Go Thanksgiving event.
Fans are hoping that much like the recent Halloween event, Niantic may launch Thanksgiving in 2017 sooner than they did in 2016.
That event provided double the amount of XP and Stardust when completing in-game actions, and fans are hoping for something similar in 2017.
As of right now, Niantic have not guaranteed the return of the community celebration, although it would help fill the hole before the new Gen 3 release in December.
There are also rumours that a new Legendary Pokemon could be launched alongside the upcoming Thanksgiving event.
Ho-Oh recently saw its CP values and stats nerfed in the master game files, which is something that has happened before nearly every major Pokemon release.
It would also coincide closely with the latest rotation of Legendary Pokemon currently available to catch in different regions.
It’s unclear if an announcement for Thanksgiving will be made alongside whatever new features Niantic are hoping to reveal in the next week.
Last year, the event wasn’t announced until November 21, although, it wouldn’t be surprising if Niantic wanted to make the reveal a little earlier this year.
Niantic have also confirmed that they will be making a new Pokemon Go features announcement sometime this week.
“Just like many of you, we’re super excited about Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and are working hard with our partners at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and WB Games San Francisco’s development team to bring that to life,” a message from Niantic explains.
“However, we–the Pokémon GO development team–want to say that we are 100% committed to creating an ever-changing and growing game that gets our players exploring, meeting each other, and deepening their connection to the Pokémon universe.
“We’re actively expanding the Pokemon Go development team to build many more amazing features in 2018.”
