‘PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ has performance issues on Xbox One

Just days after the release of the massively popular “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)” on gaming console Xbox One, the multiplayer online battle royale title is already suffering from various performance issues.

The console version of the title has a bunch of graphics related issues which become obvious once a player moves on from the character creation screen to the game lobby. These issues include low-resolution textures that don’t work properly, as well as an average frame rate of just 20 frames per second (fps).

The performance issues become more apparent once the player begins a match, as the game starts off with a stutter before being able to reach the 20 fps mark. But then, low-quality artwork and slow performance continue to plague the game’s performance.

As a result of the low frame rate, the input lag in the game also tends to become an issue.

The game improves to the 30 fps cap once a player goes deeper into the game, but the overall performance is very inconsistent. There are some areas on the map that tend to give better performance than others.

Traveling across the map in a vehicle could yield better performance results, but when moving from one room to another or engaging in a firefight against an enemy, the frame rate dips back to 20 fps.

“PUBG” performs a lot better on the 4K-equipped Xbox One X, although it doesn’t come close to the performance and graphical standards that other video titles have set with the capable console.

Although the PC version of “PUBG,” which will not come out of Steam Early Access until Dec. 20, does not really bring remarkable performance, it is at least a more playable version. Its fun gameplay has outweighed its issues, which is why the game has already sold so many copies while still on Early Access.
