Overwatch is celebrating the holidays in a big way with the return of the “Winter Wonderland” event allowing players the chance to unlock special winter-themed holiday loot, while players after the event will also get an added goodie.
Over on the Battle.net forums for Overwatch, Blizzard’s Josh Engen wrote that players in the game will be receiving two emotes for free in January after the conclusion of the Winter Wonderland event (both poses are available now in the game’s PTR). The emotes in question will be the “Toast” emote for Bastion and Sombra, where they enjoy a nice cup of a hot beverage after claiming victory.
The reasoning for the free emotes is that both poses “weren’t originally intended for use” in the Winter Wonderland event, but ended up being seen in promotional material for Overwatch‘s holiday event, which Engen said “understandably” confused some players as to why they weren’t available during the event.
To make up for the confusion, Engen explained that both poses will be available to players in January “regardless of whether or not they logged into Overwatch during the Winter Wonderland event,” and regardless of whether or not they have purchased Winter Loot Boxes.
