When is the Pokémon Go Christmas event 2017? What’s changed?
The festivities kicked off on December 21 with a batch of temporary changes coming to the game as part of the Christmas event.
Sadly it will be coming to an end on January 4.
As part of the seasonal special event, Ice-type Pokémon will appear more frequently, and Santa hat Pikachu is back in the game.
Like last year, you can evolve your Santa hat Pikachu into a Santa hat Raichu, and this year it’s also possible to hatch a Santa hat Pichu.
You’ll also start to see the 20 new Ice- and Water-type Pokémon which have been added into the game, originally from Ruby and Sapphire.
Niantic has also teased that another Legendary may be on its way into the game, after sharing a promo shot with the Legendary Water-type Kyogre lurking in the depths.
You can also expect some free goodies during the event, including a guaranteed Egg Incubator the first time you visit a PokeStop on each day from December 22 – 25.
Trainers can currently purchase Winter Boxes for 480 coins, Great Boxes for 780 coins and Ultra Boxes for 1480 coins.
Winter Boxes contain two Incense, two Incubators and five Star Pieces. Great Boxes contain four Super Incubators, ten Razzberries and ten Star Pieces.
Ultra Boxes are holding a huge 25 Star Pieces, as well as eight Super Incubators, ten Pinap Berries and ten Lure Modules.
Is Delibird going to be released on Pokémon Go?
According to dataminers, who have examined the latest update for the game, moves related to Delibird are in the source code.
Delibird might have been delayed due to the complicated nature of one of the moves found in the code, ‘Present.’
Present is a move that will randomly either heal or attack the opponent and it’s not yet clear how this move will work in the game.
It’s not yet known if Stantler will appear in the game but fans seem to be sure that it will.
Will there be more Ice Pokémon?
Many of the 20 new critters added to the game are Ice-type.
However, Niantic have said previously that they would not be creating false weather effects in the game.
This means that if it’s not snowing outside, they won’t make it snow in the game.
Even so, the drop rate for Ice-type Pokémon has been hiked up during the event regardless.
Are there new EX Raids?
New invites for EX Raids have been sent out and they have been scheduled for Christmas Day.
This leads to further speculation that the Christmas Event will be released on December 25.
Which Generation 3 Pokémon are available and what’s in the latest update?
Fifty brand new Pocket Monsters are beginning to appear on screens around the world including Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip.
The last update also saw the game reflect real-life weather patterns wherever you are.
What’s more, the weather will also change what types of Pokémon you will see – for example, if it is raining you will be more likely to see a Mudkip than when it’s sunny.
